Terms of Service
Last updated: August 8, 2026
These terms govern your use of Munra apps and the munradiary.com website. They're written to be readable, not to obscure anything.
Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using any Munra application or visiting munradiary.com (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users of Munra apps, including Munra Journal and any future Munra applications.
Description of the service
Munra provides personal productivity and reflection tools, beginning with Munra Journal, a private, offline first journaling app for iOS.
Munra does not require an account, collect personal information, or store any of your data on remote servers. All journal data remains on your device. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Munra also offers optional AI features that connect directly to a third party AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) using an API key you supply yourself. These features are off by default, and using them means the relevant portion of an entry is sent to that provider under its own terms and privacy policy, not just ours.
Subscriptions and billing
Munra Journal is free to download and the core of it stays free to use. Some features require Munra Plus, an auto renewing subscription offered on a monthly and an annual term. Which features are included is shown in the app on the subscription screen, along with the price for your region at the time of purchase.
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play, not by us. That means:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase
- The subscription renews automatically unless auto renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of the renewal
- You can manage the subscription and turn off auto renew at any time in your account settings on the App Store or Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel it
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We cannot issue, reverse, or guarantee a refund on their behalf, though we are happy to help you find the right form.
Prices may change. If a price changes, the store will tell you before the change takes effect and, where required, ask you to confirm before it renews at the new price. If a subscription lapses, your journal and every entry in it remain on your device and readable. Paid features stop being available; your writing is never withheld.
Your content
You retain full ownership of everything you write, record, or store within Munra apps. Munra itself does not access, read, or transmit your journal entries or any other personal content to any server. The one exception is the optional AI features described above: if you choose to enable them, the relevant portion of an entry is sent directly from your device to the third party AI provider you configure. We make no claim to your content whatsoever.
You are solely responsible for:
- The content you create within the app
- Maintaining backups of your data. Munra provides encrypted backup and export tools for this purpose, but we cannot recover data lost due to device failure, accidental deletion, or app uninstall
- Ensuring your use of the app complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction
Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the app in ways that circumvent Apple App Store policies
- Distribute modified versions of Munra apps without express written permission
- Use the app in any manner that could damage, overload, or impair the app
Munra is a personal journaling tool intended for individual use. While there are no content restrictions imposed by us (your journal is private), you remain responsible for ensuring your usage is lawful.
Intellectual property
The Munra name, logo, app design, and all associated branding are property of Munra and may not be used without explicit written permission. The app's source code, UI design, and underlying technology are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Munra does not warrant that:
- The app will be available continuously or without interruption
- The app will be free of bugs, errors, or defects
- Data stored within the app will never be lost due to device failure, OS update incompatibility, or other circumstances beyond our control
- Any third party AI provider you connect through the optional AI features will be available, accurate, or free of errors; your use of those providers is governed by their own terms

Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Munra and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the claim, if any, or (b) $1 USD.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.
Changes to these terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
